Abstract

Environmental education and medicinal plants are pedagogical instruments that can subsidize
the educational-environmental relationship, offering opportunities for insertion of different aspects.
Thus, it was aimed to retrieve information about the use of medicinal plants by elderly
people in the Center of Coexistence in Santa Luzia - PB and also contribute to the rational use
of these species. Educational lectures were conducted on medicinal plants and in the opportunity
interviewed 40 elderly people, these data were analyzed from descriptive statistical analysis
by percentage frequencies observed in the categories of variables and tabulated in Excel.
Most of the interviewees were women with chronic problems and already used medicinal
plants. Concluding that most of the elderly present chronic health problems and the medicinal
plants help in this treatment, however, having the rational use of these plants.
