Abstract

The objective of the experiment was to provide an integration of the students with Amazon
agroecosystems in the context of family farming, promoting a broader view of the relationship
between man and nature, and how this relationship can influence the socioeconomic reproduction
of a family of farmers. The data were obtained during the interaction with the family through
observations, informal conversations and transversal walks, direct and indirect observations
and at the family level. The property resources are managed according to the observations
and practices carried out along the farmers’ field trajectory, trying to maintain the balance in
the agroecosystem, since the nature has already shown signs that the inadequate management
will cause them irreversible damages in the short term , Which led them to manage their
agricultural system with a view to keeping it sustainable and productive. To do so, he replaced
the weeding with the brush; Increased the cowpea as source of nitrogen and organic matter
for the black pepper; Replaced the use of chemical fertilizers by organic materials such as:
cattle manure, goat manure, vegetable peels, leaves and twigs, food remains. The experience
allowed a closer look at the strategies that the farmers adopt, making the experience a moment
of reflection about which each farmer is a researcher.
