Keywords:
Conventional agriculture, organic agriculture, purchase decisionAbstract
It is possible to observe the trajectory of agriculture in relation to the different types of food
cultivation methods, to the conventional ones, which historically are part of the food base; and
the organic, which have been undergoing a process of expansion among consumers. The
objective of this study is to identify the perception of value of the consumers of the Federal
District facing the choice between conventional and organic foods. Through a questionnaire,
applied with people residing in the Federal District, it was possible to verify the profile of the
consumers of conventional and organic foods, as well as of those that showed an indisposition
of consumption. Some foods were evaluated for price perception and motivation to purchase
in two hypermarkets, thus directing the interpretation regarding the existence of perception of
value and priority based on an established cost-benefit perception.
