Initiative to recover ciliary forest on the banks of the Uraim River in the municipality of Paragominas-PA

The objective of this work was to recover the riparian forest on the banks of the Uraim River.
This work was carried out in the Uraim Colony, located in the municipality of Paragominas-PA.
The methodology was applied in two stages, the first one was the survey of the history and
characteristics of the site, and the second, the planning of the river recovery process, with
the collection of native forest seedlings, planting of seedlings of economically viable species
and monitoring the Species development. The native species collected were: Plum (Syzygium
cumini), Ucuúba (Surinamensis), Veronica (Officinalis L), Palette (Clitoria fairchildiana) and Ladder
of Jabuti (Bauhinia rutilans Spruce ex Benth). It was verified with an initial survey, that
on the banks of the river Uraim, needs a recovery, since, the degradation of the ciliary forest
occurs in all the extension of the river. Collection and planting of native seedlings is a viable
possibility of recovery. Being important the acclimatization of the seedlings in nursery. The extractive
planting of açaí seedlings is a possibility to generate income for the producer, besides
contributing to the recovery of the river.
