The mangaba is tolerant to drought and poor fertility soils, their collection and coming totally
from the traditional extractivism. The research carried out in the Timbo Village, Morros-MA,
aims to obtain knowledge of the vegetative composition of the mangaba natural occurrence
area, to determine the structure of the adult and regenerating vegetation in the community’s
extractive area. The individuals were selected using the quadrant method, with spacing of 20
meters between points and 50 meters between transects. The phytosociological parameters
determined were: Total Density, Density, Frequency, Absolute and Relative Dominance, Basal
Area, Value of Importance and Coverage Value, Shannon Diversity Indexes (H’) according to
Mueller-Dombois and Ellenberg. The data were processed using the FITOPAC 2.1 program,
with charts developed by Excell 2013. The identification of the species in the field was carried
out with the help of a resident of the area, who contributed with the indication of the popular
name. With the results obtained the family Apocynaceae with 98 individuals for adults and 55
for regenerant and Hancornia speciosa Gomes with 54 adult individuals and 42 for regenerant.
