Abstract

The soybean is one of the most important agricultural products in the Brazilian economy, occupying
a prominent place in the exports of the country. This study aimed to evaluate the
behavior of soybeans grown under Panicum maximum straw in Seropédica, RJ. The experiment
was conducted at the Department of crop science - IA UFRRJ, adopting a completely
randomized design. In the mulch treatment was observed, greater vegetative exuberance with
the appearance of the phenomenon of soybean nuts, which can be explained due to weather
conditions, resulting in low productivity regardless of treatment with and without coverage.
