Abstract

The short circuits of consumption have been increasingly efficient in bringing family agriculture
closer to the consumer market, helping to deconstruct the thinking that every product, mainly
organic, has the highest price and is inaccessible to the majority of the population. This work
aimed at comparing the prices of conventional products - offered in three local supermarkets,
two hortifrútis and a local fair - to the prices of organic products - offered in the form of a short
circuit by the Cooperativa Agropecuaria, of the Irituienses Family Producers. The prices of
twenty-eight products were collected on February 2, 2017. According to the systematized information,
the acquisition of organic products in the form of short circuit resulted in an economy
of 11% in relation to the conventional products, offered in fairs, supermarkets and hortifrútis of
the municipality of Castanhal.
