Abstract

Extracts and essential oils have been extensively studied as to their potential in the control of
phytopathogens, constituting an alternative to the use of fungicides. The present study aimed
to evaluate the antifungal activity of essential oil and priprioca hydrolate, in the concentrations
of 100; 500; 1250; 2250 and 4000 mg.mL-1, on Colletotrichum musae, causal agent of anthracnose
disease in banana. All the concentrations of the essential oil, and the concentrations of
500, 2250 and 4000 mg.mL-1 of the hydrolyzate, reduced the diameter of the phytopathogenic
colonies in relation to the control, presenting fungistatic effect on Colletotrichum musae.
