The objective of this work was to analyze the effect of essential oils from different plants to
control the growth of colletotrichum gloeosporioides, a fungus that causes the disease known
as anthracnose. The alternative control experiment for this causal agent was developed in the
laboratory, using the essential oils of melaleuca, clove, eucalyptus, coconut and mint mint, in
the concentration of 1%, added to the growth medium (BDA) in plates. At the center of the plates
containing BDA + essential oil, for a disc of 9 mm in diameter of a crop of phytopathogen
and later measured the growth over the days, based on a test, without any type of control. The
oils tested showed fungistatic action and were not controlled by C. gloeosporioides in vitro.
