Analysis of functional biodiversity: an instrument to board the ecological-productive dimension of sustainability.
Keywords:

For sustainable management from the agroecological approach, it is necessary to strengthen
the ecological processes of agroecosystems. One way to estimate the presence of these
processes is to evaluate the functional biodiversity of the agroecosystem. The usefulness of
analyzing functional biodiversity to address the ecological-productive dimension of sustainability
is discussed. It was based on the methodology of sustainability indicators, which allows
the construction of indicators based on the dimensions of biodiversity. Considering the management
aspects that favor them, it is also possible to evaluate other natural resources (soil and
water), since biodiversity directly or indirectly crosses all aspects considered. This allows us a
more integrative and utilitarian vision of the evaluation of the ecological-productive dimension
of sustainability.
