Productivity of lettuce from the use of organic compost In Brejo Paraibano
Keywords:
Lactuca sativa, organic fertilizer, fresh and dry matterAbstract
The objective of this research was to evaluate the effect of compost doses on the productive
performance of lettuce. The experiment was conducted at the Pau Ferro site, Lagoa Seca-PB
municipality. The experimental design was a randomized block design with six treatments. Treatments
were 0, 15, 30, 45, 60 and 75 t ha-1 of compound in four replicates. According to the
regression analysis the data fit the polynomial model, the curve that best adjusted the means
for all variables was the quadratic one. Fresh lettuce and total lettuce yields were 8.44, 6.15
and 14.65 g plant-1 obtained with the application of 56, 51.5 and 54 t ha-1 of compound, respectively.
The maximum dry matter yield of shoot and total lettuce were 248.24 and 274.68 g
plant-1 obtained with the application of 43.04 and 54 t ha-1 of compound, respectively. The use
of the compound provided an increase in the fresh and dry matter yield of the lettuce over the
soil that was not fertilized, and the maximum yields for these components were obtained with
the doses 43.04 t ha-1 and 56 t ha-1, respectively, of organic compound.
