This experiment was set up with the objective of evaluate the effect of carnauba straw as an organic
fertilizer incorporated at different times in pre-planting in the carrot crop. The experiment
was conducted at the IFRN - Campus Ipanguaçu, located in the municipality of Ipanguaçu,
from July to September, 2015. The experimental design was a randomized complete block with
four replicates and five treatments, four of which refer to the time of 15; 30; 45 and 60 days of
incorporation before planting, using the dose of 14 Mg ha-1, and a control treatment without
addition of straw. It was observed a significant effect of treatments for root length and total dry
matter, and no effect was observed for root diameter and yield. It was observed a linear effect
of the time, being positive for total dry matter and negative for root length. The incorporation in
15 and 30 days before planting promoted the highest root lengths.
