The present study aimed evaluate chemical and physical characteristics of fruits of different
crosses of feijoa (Acca sellowiana) produced in Rio do Sul State in Alto Vale do Itajaí region,
SC. Fruits of six crosses were evaluated: ‘helena x Matos 112’, ‘helena x nonante 2’, ‘nonante
x helena 80’, ‘1001 x helena 1’, ‘helena x matos 84’ and ‘nonante x helena 66’. The fruits were
collected at the point of maturity and the attributes of weight, pulp yield, soluble solids content
(SS), pH and vitamin C content were evaluated. Fruit weight and SS was no difference between
the crosses, but the fruits of the ‘helena x matos 112’ cross presented superior pulp yield
(44.37%). There was a significant difference for the pH values, with higher values in the fruits
of the ‘nonante x helena 80’ (4.01) cross. The vitamin C content showed a difference between
the crosses, ranging from 16.76 to 33.21 mg 100g-1 of fresh pulp.
