The objective was to develop along with the communities a study to evaluate alternatives for the
African snail control (Achatina fulica Bowdich 1822) in agroforestry backyards. Four solutions
were tested as attractive for the snails. There were no difference between tested treatments.
A solution with hypochlorite seemed to be more effective for slaughtering the animals after
capture. It was observed trap position effect on the number of snails attracted. This allowed
the verification of garbage and materials that provide shelter for the immature forms of snail in
the area and it was determinant for the results. As a recommendation, we emphasize that the
initial stages of the agroforestry backyard installation indeed require prior cleaning and removal
of materials to avoid snails depredation during plants development and food production.
