Abstract

This research was carried out in the community “cachoeira”, located on the border of the river
Potirita, in the rural área of Paragominas, aiming to evaluate in a comparative way the sustainability
of an agroecosystem located in a flooded area and other located in the ground, in the
environmental, social and economic dimension. The method utilized was the MESMIS. Data
were collected in November 2016 through field research and the use of a questionnaire in each
of the agroecosystems in the sample. According to the results obtained, it is concluded that the
flooded agroecosystem shows the higher level of sustainability in the 3 dimensions considered.
