Agroforestry residency project: innovation experience in rural extension

Abstract

The agroforestry residency project proposed innovation in the Rondônia rural development
model, complementing the training of professionals in Technical Assistance and Extension to
Family Farming with emphasis on agroecology. Nineteen professionals from different areas of
knowledge were selected, demanded by non-governmental organizations recognized by farmers
and traditional communities in the state. The formative process was established through
the alternance pedagogy integrated in academy time, field time and experience.The residency
was an unprecedented experience for farmers, communities, non-governmental organizations,
residents and coordination of the project, adding knowledge about the rural reality of Rondônia,
academic training, agroecological practices, incentives and support to family agriculture,
management of extension institutions rural and project execution in the state.
