The “Mutirão de Saberes” was an activity carried out in 2016, with the objective of contributing
to the agroecological transition of the communities involved in the “Mãos à Horta” Network in
Rio Pomba, MG. The “Mutirão de Saberes” activities were based on generating themes, raised
from the communities, through meetings with associations and farmers, observing their
main demands and challenges for the agroecological transition. These themes were divided
into three blocks, sharing the different knowledge in five different communities, totaling 15
workshops. In this process, several subjects were involved and carried out the construction of
agroecological knowledge. The work based on participatory methodologies provoked a clear empowerment of those involved in the process, showing the importance of horizontality in the
construction of knowledge and collective actions for agroecological transition. The workshops
lived in the communities, knowing and understanding their different realities contributed to
the strengthening of the ties between farmers and prosumers of the “Mãos à Horta” Network,
noting the importance of integration among local farmers, associations, public institutions and
civil society for the agroecological transition in Rural communities.
