Abstract

Traditional knowledge passed on from generation to generation over space and time
is of great importance to build up agroecological knowledge. This work shows the experience
of the I and II Fair of Knowledge, Seeds and Flavors, developed in the municipality
of Brejinho-PE, located in the Brazilian Semi-arid. Local communities have
attracted interest to this type of space as a way of sharing their experiences and activities,
promoting knowledge exchange and disseminating local products. In addition
to the exchange of knowledge among farmers, the important results of the fair are the
involvement of young people and local schools and the dissemination of the importance
of family farming to the region.
