Temporary informal work: a strategy of resilience in the Quilombola Community Júlio Borges

As a way of complementing their incomes and guaranteeing their stay in the countryside, it
is not uncommon for family farmers to carry out temporary services outside their property by
monetary exchange. Inserted in the Região do Alto Jacuí, the Quilombola Community Júlio
Borges is located in the municipality of Salto do Jacuí (Rio Grande do Sul). Several residents
of the Quilombola Community, Júlio Borges, have among their strategies of social reproduction
complementary income with temporary informal work in the field of farmers outside the
community. In the quest to reveal how temporary informal work has contributed to resilience
processes in the rural, by immersing in the community, it has been realized that working outside
the community is a strategy to stay in the field and give hope for a better future for the
descendants of the community.
