Abstract

The Southeast Agroecological Caravan was created with the main objective of realizing a
true exchange of knowledge related to agroecology among several groups. In the caravan
the participants, who are students, farmers, teachers, technicians and representatives of civil
society organizations, unite through stories and reports, thus preserving the culture, identity
and learning of each class. The Agroecological Caravan of the Southeast towards the Ribeira
Valley had five routes of departure points and different routes, so, in a simultaneous way, each
route carried out a route of different visits and in the end all the routes went to the same point
of departure. Meeting, the municipality of Barra do Turvo - SP, in the Ribeira Valley. Rota 4,
with the theme: “Cooperatives, communities and settlements” began in Uberlândia, integrating
students and professors from the Federal University of Uberlândia (UFU), members of NACEM
(Cerro Mineiro Agroecology Center), members of GUARÁS ( University Group of Agriculture with Environmental and Social Responsibility) and also farmers of settlements of the region
of Uberlândia - MG. The route left Uberlândia and passed through Ribeirão Preto - SP, São
Carlos - SP, Apiaí - SP and arrived at its destination that was Barra do Turvo - SP, and in each
passing city added more participants in the caravan. The purpose of route 4 was to show us
how it works and how important the union of farmers is when the goal is to create cooperatives
to market their products, live in communities, or fight for the conquest of their land.
