Abstract

The collective SAUIPE - Integral Health in Permaculture is a group of students from the Federal
University of Viçosa who, dissatisfied with the mechanistic logic of learning adopted mainly by
the UFV, seek the collective to improve knowledge other than those offered in the classroom.
The group proposes to work with agroecological themes based on integral health and social technologies
that combine popular knowledge, surviving ancestral cultures with modern science.
The group is part of the Mutirão Ciranda - Articulation of Agroecology Groups of the UFV, and
since 2006 has been involved with extension projects in the Zona da Mata of Minas Gerais.
Understanding permaculture as the culture for the permanence of living beings on Earth, the
group carries out activities in communities related to environmental sanitation, with emphasis
on the decentralized system for sewage treatment, soil and water conservation techniques,
and the making of Ecological cleaning and hygiene products.
