Abstract

The objective of this work was to propose and construct agroecological solutions for the cultivation
of maize based on problems raised by the family farmers of settlements in the extreme
south region of Bahia, fomenting the discussion to elaborate technologies that encourage the
transition to the organic cultivation of maize and other crops. The place of development of
the work was the “Unidos Venceremos” Pre-settlement in the municipality of Porto Seguro
/ BA, considered an agro-ecological transition area. The results of this work demonstrated
that the substitution of pesticides by biological control was very important to demonstrate to
the farmers that it is possible to control pests with alternative products and enabled the team
to approach the subject on soil fertility and structuring, encouraging the continuation with the
work on planting direct and ground cover.
