Ecological Fair of the UPF - space of learning in agroecology in the university

Abstract

This paper reports the collective participation in the construction of the experience of the Ecological
Fair and Solidarity Economy held at the I campus of the University of Passo Fundo
(UPF), RS, Brazil. There were 4 issues in 2015, 9 issues in 2016 and 1 in 2017. The fair was
born from the mobilization of a student commission, claiming within the campus the offer of
agroecological products and solidarity economy for the entire academic community. As a result
of this demand, today there is an interdisciplinary project to extend the fair, coordinated by the
Economics course, linked to the Sustainable Communities Program, with direct involvement of
the Agroecology Studies Center (NEA-UPF), as new demands and new actions are emerging
are required. Here we present the perception and opinion of students who evaluated the fair on
campus. It is concluded that the implementation of an ecological fair on a university campus is
an adequate instrument for promoting the quality of life of an academic community.
