The use of silicate rock powders is an alternative to agricultural demands for nutrient sources
and soil conditioners. However, it is a technique that still requires research to obtain more precise
recommendations and a better understanding of the dynamics of release of its nutrients.
The objective of this work was to systematize experiences and knowledge about the use of
basalt powder in agricultural activities by family farmers in the central-southern region of Paraná.
The systematization process involved rural producers with five or more years of experience
with basalt dust. The systematization showed, based on the most commonly reported points,
that the application of basalt powder favors phytosanitary management and increases plant
productivity. In addition, farmers have often reported that there are health benefits for cattle,
goats and chickens.
