Maniva Agroecology Network (Rema) in action: strengthening agroecological knowledge in the state of Amazonas

The Maniva Agroecology Network promotes initiatives in favor of agroecology and organic
production in Amazonas. The actions involve the organization of a weekly fair of organic products;
the feasibility of commercialization for the Food Acquisition Program; the support for the
formalization of four new Social Control Organizations; the Formalization of the Participative
Conformity Assessment Body Maniva; fundraising; the reorganization of the Commission of
Organic Production of the Amazon; the participation in the Amazon Forum to Combat the Impacts
of Agrochemicals; the encouragement of the creation of the Agroecology Coordination
of the State Secretariat of Rural Production and support for the formulation of the Draft Law
of the State Policy on Agroecology and Organic Production. Activities expanded beyond the
production system, contributing to the improvement of the quality of life and the recovery of the
farmers’ self-esteem, the appreciation of the role of young people and women, and access to
public policies.
