Abstract

Since the 1990s family farming has been referred to and studied as a strategic for rural development.
Considering its specificity with regard to the socioeconomic characteristics that were
the basis for elaborating a set of public policies, it is argued in this article that such specificities
would justify the construction of an innovation policy for the autonomy and strengthening of
family agriculture that has in agroecology its guiding axis.
