Production of agroecological knowledge in rural settlements in the municipality of Nova Xavantina-MT

Abstract

The democratization of knowledge, through extension activities, favors the exchange of experiences,
as well as the development of practices aimed at strengthening Agroecology in areas
of rural settlements. This work aims to analyze how the actions developed by the students
of the Agronomy course of UNEMAT University Campus of Nova Xavantina, has favored the
construction of agroecological knowledge, as well as, encouraged agroecological production
in rural settlement areas, bringing the University closer to the actors involved. Twenty farmers
were interviewed through a questionnaire, seeking to identify the actions developed and how
these have contributed to the construction of agroecological knowledge. The results show that
the involvement of the students with the assisted community and the development of agroecological
practices among the settlers has contributed to the strengthening of the relations
between farmers, academics and researchers, as well as the exchange of experiences has
allowed a better return of the actions of University extension, the democratization of agroecological
knowledge.
