Abstract

The experience is based on the direct participation of those involved, based on dialogue and
collective decision-making. The central objective is to promote the debate on the characterization
of plant species, consortia and spacing, in order to build subsidies for the planning of
agroforestry arrangements. For this purpose, workshops were held at the Agroecology Study
Center in the Amazon to select common species in the region for self consumption and commercialization,
based on different purposes. The characterization of these species allowed a
better understanding of the role of each one in the vegetative succession of the system and
also on the environmental services provided. In the experience, the importance of the methodological
process in the construction of knowledge about the theme was perceived, taking into
account the opinion of those involved and their experiences. A high level of complexity has
been observed in the implementation of the proposal due to the scarcity of information or even
divergence of information.
