Abstract

Considering the importance of the production and commercialization of medicinal plants in the
Paraiba swamp, it was aimed to identify the trade and the sellers profile of these species in the
free fair of the Remígio/PB municipality. To do this, interviews were conducted with 15 vendors
through questionnaires that contained questions related mainly to trade in these plants. These
were analyzed from descriptive statistical analysis and data tabulated in the Excel spreadsheet
editor and analyzed descriptively. The majority (60%) of the interviewees were male and had
of 51 to 75 years old. The plants parts best selling were the leaves and the consumption was
usually due to illness. The sellers of medicinal plants of the fair of the Remígio/PB city market
an expressive number of species and, in addition, guide the consumers in relation to the correct
use of them.
