Abstract

In the Metropolitan Region of Manaus - RMM 88% of the properties are of family agriculture
and of these, 0.4% are of organic production. These properties have high productivity in vegetable
and fruit crops, due to the consumption demand in the municipal offices. The objective
of this study was to evaluate economic and socioenvironmental indicators of organic and conventional
family agriculture in the RMM. Socioenvironmental and economic indicators of three
organic properties and three conventional properties were analyzed in three municipalities
of the RMM. The performance of the socio-environmental macro indicators presented better
indexes for the organic properties. In the economic analysis the organic properties showed higher
profit, lower expense and revenue than conventional properties. Socioenvironmental and
economic indicators presented better results for organic properties.
