Brazil is one of the largest producers of organic bananas in the world. However, the Brazilian
banana yield is considered low. Important responsible for this are insects, especially the weevil
borer (Cosmopolites sordidus) and ‘Broca Rajada’ (Metamasius hemipterus), which in the larval
phase burrow the rhizome and the pseudostem of the plants, compromising the production
the same. The objective of this work was to verify the presence of ‘Queijo’, ‘Telha’ and ‘Pseudocaule
na Touceira’ baits, which would present the best capture of these two coleobrocas
in the ‘BRS Princesa’ apple type banana State of Rio de Janeiro, aiming at adopting the best
method to capture adult insects when the population reaches the level of ecological and economic
damage. The results showed the effectiveness of the ‘Pseudocaule na Touceira’ bait
compared to the other ‘Queijo’ and ‘Telha’ baits, in order to collect and mitigate the occurrence
of these insects if it was adopted by the banana farmer in agroecological system.
