Among the fruit trees, the papaya culture has been emphasizing and the cultivation of healthy
and vigorous seedlings are fundamental to obtain high yields. The objective of this study was
to determine the effect of Trichoderma spp. on the development of agronomic traits in the initial
phase of the papaya seedlings. The treatments used were the inoculation of five Trichoderma
isolates, one MIX treatment with the mixture of the five isolates and one control without inoculation,
in soil with and without fertilization with natural phosphate. The Trichoderma isolates
were harvested and homogenized in the soil with and without natural phosphate. Biomass
evaluations were carried out. All isolates provided statistically superior plant growth in the presence
of natural phosphate compared to the control. Without natural phosphate the treatment
with MIX was superior to the others in all the variables. Trichoderma isolates are efficient in
promoting plant growth in the initial phase of papaya seedlings.
