The importance of agroecology in the Natural Reserves of Civil Society. The case of the Regional Natural Park Páramo del Duende, Colombia

This article aims to present the experience of Fedena Ecological Foundation in the establishment
of Natural Reserves of Civil Society (RNSC) to promote the reconversion, research and
teaching in agroecological as conservation strategy in the Regional Natural Park Páramo
del Duende, Colombia. The strategy have allowed the construction of incidence tools in land
planning, deepening the knowledge of the biodiversity of the region associated with agroecosystems
and land planning based on life expectancy. The empowerment of agroecological
knowledge has achieved through the exchange of knowledge and experience tours, inter-institutional
relationships and establishing permanent relationships with academia. The RNSC
through their management plans have profiled agroecology as the most valuable tool for enabling
the biological and cultural conservation of the “Duende” region.
