ASF: Agroecology and Socio-biodiversity Fair

Abstract

The aim of the Agroecology and Socio-biodiversity Fair was to disseminate knowledge in Agroecology,
bringing the farmers’ practical experience to the technical study of the academics,
stimulating debates and conceptions about the use of pesticides. The fairs promoted cultural
presentations, showing how important is the interaction between traditional peoples, each with
its wealth. It also counted on the exhibition of products from agroecological activities, management
and initiatives of research and extension laboratories. During the fair, there were
workshops and circles, seed exchange between traditional communities and small excursions
in areas with examples of agroecological practices. The biggest benefit that the fair brought
to participants and the territory of Zone of Mata Rondoniense, which is characterized by large
tracts of land with pastures and coffee plantations, was the awareness about sustainability,
showing that it is possible to produce without harming the environment.
