Cunha is a city located in Vale do Paraíba region from São Saulo state. The main income-generating
activity for family farmers in the region is dairy cattle. Due to herd management failures,
pasture degradation has been ocurred and consequent productivity decrease and withdrawal
of activity. In order to seek solutions to the problems faced, agroecology emerges as a tool that
contributes to promoting sustainable production. The Serracima is an OCISP (Organization of
Civil Society of Public Interest) that develops projects of sustainable rural development in the
city of Cunha and region. The Agroecological Transition of Livestock has been initiated with
the Project: “Community Enterprises: creating environments for work and income generation
in the municipality of Cunha / SP and region”, sponsored by Petrobras. Initially the pasture
management has been implemeted through the Voisin Rationale (PRV) and later, the sanitary
management through the use of Homeopathy and Phytotherapy aiming quality production, free
of chemical residues, low cost and with an increase in environmental conservation.
