Abstract

The Methodology of Economic-Ecological Analysis of Agroecosystems considers unique strategies
in the socioecological dynamics of management in family agriculture invisibilized in the
conventional methods of agriculture. The methodology was applied in an agroecological system
in the green coast region, state of Rio de Janeiro, aiming to make an analysis to make feasible
and to strengthen the production from the perspective of agroecology. The steps of the method
are: visit to the agroecosystem, semi-structured interview, elaboration of the timeline and modeling
and economic-ecological analysis. The family bets on the diversification of production as
a marketing strategy. It was identified that most of the inputs were produced internally, reducing
cost and increasing profitability. It can be inferred that the strategy of production and social
organization adopted by the family allowed the interaction of the economic production and ecological
reproduction of the agroecosystem allowing the family to stay in the property.
