Fennel (Foeniculum vulgare Mill.) is a medicinal plant widely cultivated and used in Brazil, with
great economic importance for family farmers. The objective of this study was to evaluate the
production of fennel seeds in consortium with colored cotton. In field conditions, F. vulgare
was cultivated in consortium with colored cotton in different arrangements: 1A2E (1 cotton
row and 2 fennel row), 1A3E (1 cotton row and 3 fennel row), 2A1E (2 cotton row and 1 fennel
row), 3A1E (3 cotton row and 1 fennel row) and ES (fennel single), totaling 5 treatments. The
evaluated characteristics were: water content, seed weight, production and % of emergency.
Consortium 1A3E increased the emergency (58.5%) and 3A1E provided the best results for
the water content (11.19%). For a better production of fennel seeds one should use two or three
rows of fennel in consortium with one row of colored cotton.
