Caparaó capixaba is one of the most important regions in water resources in the state of Espirito
Santo, but the monoculture of coffee and degraded pastures contribute to the drought
of the springs. The agroecological transition becomes a process of extreme importance to
reverse this scenario. The change in the management of existing agroecosystems in the Pedra
Brilhante farm is helping to preserve the natural resources as well as the family food security.
The objective of this work was to elaborate two maps of land use and occupation, the first to
anticipate the adoption of agroecological practices and the other to the modification of agroecosystems,
providing a better analysis of the proposed agroecological transition in the Plantadores
de Água project. The realization of agroecological transition depends on several factors.
However, the main factor was the decision of the farmer to believe that it is possible to produce
food in a diversified way and without the use of agrochemicals.
