The experiment installed on Pirapemas-MA, aimed to determine and evaluate the effect of
density of babassu Palms in the spatial distribution of spontaneous vegetation. The experiment
has 12 parcels of 20 x 20 m with 4 palmeiras densities (25, 50, 75 and 100%) in 3 randomized
blocks, with distribution of quadrants 1.3 x 1.3 m on the plots. There was no significant difference
between the densities, the largest amount of leaf litter was found in the area with the highest
concentration of Palm trees. The Ca, Na and Zn showed significant difference compared to the
other. For the Cu, Fe, Mg, Mn, Na, K, and Pb, there was no significant difference between the
densities of Palm trees, but the results show that with the presence of vegetation and litter, is
of paramount importance for the maintenance or resumption of ecological processes
