Abstract

This report presents evidence of social, environmental and economic impacts resulting from
the preservation of pollinators in agroecological systems of cotton production in the State of
Paraíba. The data were collected in December od 2016, as part of the impact assessment of
the technology “Cotton Pollinators in Brazil”. For that, three families of small farmers were visited
and interviewed: two in the Agreste region and one in the Semi-arid region of Paraíba. The
collection and analysis of information was based on the methodology of the Environmental
Impact Assessment System of Technological Innovations (AMBITEC), developed by Embrapa.
In this sense, even in a period of five years of drought, it was observed in the studied
areas that the presence of pollinators in agroecological systems contributes to the maintenance
of cotton productivity, food security, conservation of local biodiversity and the well-being of
families involved.
