Due to the issues of food safety and the preservation of the agroecosystem in a sustainable
way the organic fruits have been gaining space in the Brazilian market and in other countries.
Therefore, the objective of this work was to characterize morphologically guava fruits grown
in domestic orchards without the addition of agrochemicals. The fruits of the Paluma guava
were evaluated in the Laboratory of Improvement and Vegetable Production, State University
of Southwest of Bahia. The evaluated characteristics were: fruit length, fruit diameter, total
fruit mass, pulp mass and bark mass. The data were submitted to the descriptive analysis,
obtaining respective means and standard deviation. Organic cultivation provided adequate fruit
development in terms of size and mass. The fruits present attributes favorable to the industrial
use, with high yield in pulp.
