Abstract

The present article aims to expose the experience of the agroextrativism program of the Tapirapé-
Aquiri National Forest, whose objective is to promote the agroecology as a way of introducing
concepts and techniques that establish a new relationship of family farmers residing
around of the conservation unit with natural resources. The families participated in the implementation
of demonstration units in the following activities: agroforestry systems, horticulture,
poultry farming and dairy farming. The involvement of farmers in agroecological practices has
resulted in the improvement of production systems through the use of modern and adapted
technologies without incurring production costs, increasing incomes and improving the quality
of the production and life of these families. It is intended with this group of farmers to initiate an
agroecological transition from conventional farming systems to models that reconcile rural production
with biodiversity conservation, food security and socio-environmental development.
