Abstract

The project was developed based on the need for real demands verified in Bacaval´s Village,
Utiariti´s Indigenous Land, located in the region of Chapadão dos Parecis, state of Mato Grosso,
Brazil. Participatory methodologies were used that integrated the phases of problematization,
research, praxis, exchange, periodic evaluations and socialization of the results with
the community involved. The main problem identified by the community was the substitution
of traditional indigenous food for industrialized food and, thus, the finding of health problems
that previously did not affect the villagers. The valorisation of the Paresi Haliti indigenous culture
was worked out in order to strengthen collective work and cooperate in the recovery of
values and knowledge, contributing to the autonomy, encouragement to the critical analysis
and emancipation of the human being in the search for improvement in the quality of life of this
indigenous community.
