Abstract

The Atlantic Forest has been the most affected Brazilian biome with environmental degradation.
One strategy for achieving environmental conservation and food production is the Agroforestry
System. The objective of this study was to perform a structural analysis of the tree vegetation
of an agroforestry system (SAF) of the Jaqueira Site, Alegre, ES, established in the years 2000
and 2001, with a total area of 1.48 hectares. The horizontal structure, the diametrical structure
and the vertical structure were quantified. The most prominent species in the horizontal structure
were Clitoriafairchildiana, Artocarpus heterophyllus, Aegiphila integrifolia. In the vertical structure
were Aegiphila integrifolia, Clitoriafairchildiana and Vernonanthura phosphorica. The diametric
structure showed diametric distribution in inverted “J” format, characteristic of natural forests.
