Sanitary quality of bean seeds produced by family farmers in Espírito Santo
Keywords:
Phytopathogens, Sanity test, Incidence of fungi, Phaseolus vulgaris, blotter testAbstract
The objective of this study was to evaluate the incidence of phytopathogenic fungi in bean
seeds produced by family farmers in the state of Espírito Santo. Ten bean samples collected
from different farmers of the state were evaluated, where they were submitted to the sanity test
using the blotter test to identify phytopathogenic fungi. The results show that fungi associated
with the seeds were: Aspergillus spp., Penicillium sp., Fusarium sp., Macrophomina phaseolina,
Alternaria sp. and Paecilomyces sp. Some of these fungi cause diseases in the field and
others affect the seeds in the storage, therefore, measures of treatment of these seeds should
be adopted in order to avoid contamination in areas free of phytopathogens.
