Searching for production models that can minimize negative impacts on the environment, there
is the Voisin Rational Grazing - VRG. The objective of this study was to evaluate the structural
quality of the soil under VRG management at different stages of adoption by the Visual Evaluation
of Soil Structure method (VESS). The study was developed in the Méier Family farm (26°
16’ 54,72” S e 53° 37’ 10,56” W) located in Dionísio Cerqueira – SC. The treatments were:
areas of native forest and VRG with 11 and 15 years of implantation in Oxisol; areas of forest
and VRG with 3 and 9 years in Cambissol. Ten samples were taken in each area, totaling
60 points. The samples were evaluated by VESS and the data were submitted to analysis of
variance and test of means. It was verified improvement in the structural quality of the soil in
both soils studied during the VRG adoption, with emphasis on the Latossol area, which with 15
years of management presented quality superior to the forest area.
