Smith biometric characteristics of Leucena seeds
Keywords:
Leucaena leucocephala (Lam.) de Wit, variability, Forest speciesAbstract
Seed biometry studies are important for recognizing the genetic variability of the species. The
objective of this work was to analyze the biometric characteristics of Leucena. The biometry
was determined using a sample of 100 units, collected on the campus of the State University
of the Southwest of Bahia, in the city of Vitória da Conquista-BA, in different matrix trees. The
biometric characteristics evaluated were: length, width, thickness and weight of the seeds. The
data were submitted to descriptive analysis, obtaining the respective means, fashion, standard
deviation and coefficient of variation. The seeds presented variation in size, averaging 9.40
mm in length, 5.51 mm in width, 1.90 mm in thickness and 0.07 g in weight. The leucine seeds
presented variability regarding the biometric characteristics evaluated
