The mangabeira plays an important social and economic role for the farmers who systematically
collect the fruit, originating in its almost totality of extractivism. Despite this, it remains
underutilized by the population. Based on this approach, the present research aims to characterize
and compare the structure of the vegetation with natural occurrence of mangaba. The
survey was conducted in 5 villages in the municipality of Morros. Individuals were selected
using the quadrant method, with spacing of 20 meters between points and 50 meters between
transects. The determined phytosociological parameters were: Density, Frequency and Dominance,
Absolute and Relative, Importance and Coverage Value, Shannon Diversity Indexes
(H ‘) and Jaccard Similarity Index. The research proves from the results that the mangaba has
occurrence in the studied villages, what is necessary techniques of management of the species
for better use of it.
