Assessment of the sustainability of production processes of the Sítio Oliveira, DF/Brazil

Abstract

The present study evaluated the sustainability of the Sítio Oliveira production system, located
in the rural area of the Paranoá - DF / Brazil, which is in the phase of agroecological transition.
For this, we used tools from the MESMIS methodology that seeks, through the study of the
agroecossystem, to raise critical points that directly interfere in the balance and integrity of the
productive system and that do not contemplate the characteristics stability, resilience, reliability,
equity, adaptability and self-management, attributes common to any sustainable process.
The selection of the indicators and their diagnostic criteria were used in order to graphically
represent characteristics and tendencies about this agricultural productive activity with the use
of qualitative and quantitative techniques. Once the main indicators were identified and the
graphical assembly, it was possible to analyze in an integrated way the level of sustainable
development of the agroecosystem.
