Citizen farming in the concrete city: the São Paulo Cultural Center community garden experience

Abstract

This work describes the experience of the Community Garden of the São Paulo Cultural Center
(CCSP) as an experimental space for the promotion of agroecology and citizen involvement
in food production. It discusses agroecology as a form of activism in which collective
work and practical learning of volunteers contribute to the transformation of the citizens, to the
strengthening of community ties and to the promotion of closer relations between farmers and
consumers
